Case Spotlight: Advanced Polyp Resection Using DiLumen® in the Distal Sigmoid Colon
This new clinical case report showcases an innovative use of the DiLumen® Endoluminal Interventional Platform (EIP) by Dr. Sandro Sferrazza at Santa Chiara Hospital, Italy. In this detailed report, Dr. Sferrazza successfully utilizes DiLumen to perform an en-bloc resection of a large, challenging polyp located in the distal sigmoid colon. Case Highlights: Patient Background: A 55-year-old male with a complex, 80x55mm sessile polyp. DiLumen’s Role: The EIP device provided essential scope stability, enhanced visualization, and access to the polyp’s proximal side, optimizing the dissection. Outcome: A complete resection was achieved without complications, avoiding surgical intervention. Pathology confirmed the lesion as intramuscular adenocarcinoma with negative margins. This report emphasizes DiLumen’s impact on clinical efficiency and outcomes, demonstrating the device’s ability to facilitate safe, precise resections for complex polyp cases.
