John Roth, FACS, MD

Head of surgical endoscopy at the University of Maryland Medical Center and on the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Roth received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and went on to receive his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. He subsequently completed his general surgical training at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Kentucky.

Prior to his arrival at the University of Maryland, Dr. Roth was an assistant professor of surgery and associate director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. While at the Brody School of Medicine, Dr. Roth was honored with the Bernard Vick, M.D. teaching award for outstanding resident education.

Dr. Roth has authored numerous articles in minimally invasive surgery and has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgical procedures of the abdomen and gastrointestinal tract.
