Andrew  R. Watson, MD, MLitt, FACS

Andrew R. Watson, MD, MLitt, FACS, is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, the chief medical information officer of International and Commercial Services, and the medical director of the Center for Connected Medicine. Dr. Watson specializes in colorectal surgery, colon cancer, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease.


Dr. Watson is board-certified in general surgery. He received an undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He then completed a Masters in Literature and Architectural History at Oxford University, England. His medical degree was obtained from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.


Dr. Watson has special interests in telemedicine, technology innovation and development, and industrial relations. He also is a member of professional and scientific societies, such as the Oxford University Society, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Alumni Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Pittsburgh Surgical Society, and the American College of Surgeons.
