Amy Schell, MD

Amy Schell, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She carries a second appointment in the Department of Medicine – Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine and is the director of the UH Inspire Program. She is an Erie, Pa., native and joined University Hospitals in August 2018.

Dr. Schell is board certified in otolaryngology and board eligible in sleep medicine. She has special interest in the medical and surgical treatments for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring.

She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the Triological Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the International Surgical Sleep Society.

Dr. Schell’s research interests include upper airway neurostimulation therapy, the role of the nasal airway in snoring and OSA, and the various physiologic and anatomic phenotypes associated with OSA.

Dr. Schell has a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia, where she also stayed to earn her medical degree. She completed her otolaryngology residency and sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
