Edward D. Gifford, MD, FSVS, FACS, RPVI
Vascular Surgeon
Dr. Gifford is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with the Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute. He serves as Co-director for the East Region Limb Preservation Program. His clinical interests include lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, complex aortic aneurysm repair, and vein disease. He is passionate about limb preservation and enjoys the long-term relationship he develops with the patients he sees in the office: “Helping my patients understand what vascular disease is, offering reassurance, and laying out both the medical and surgical options that we have for treating them is the most rewarding part of my job.”
He has an extensive research background that includes medical device innovation, quality improvement in delivering vascular care, and optimizing surgical education. He is board certified in both Vascular Surgery as well as General Surgery.
Dr. Gifford comes to Hartford HealthCare after completing his Vascular surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. A native of California, he was drawn back to the Northeast after completing his medical education at Albany Medical College in 2010.
