Kevin Kalinsky, MD Joins Winship as Director of the Emory Glenn Family Breast Center

 

Sagar Lonial MD, Professor and Chair, Department of Hematology & Medical Oncology, Chief Medical Officer, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, is proud to announce that Kevin Kalinsky, MD, MS has joined Winship as the Director of the Emory Glenn Family Breast Center.

As director of the Emory Glenn Family Breast Center at Winship, Dr. Kalinsky is tasked with fulfilling the vision to improve breast cancer outcomes by aligning research and education with cancer treatment and prevention. He comes to Winship from New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, NY, after serving on the faculty for 12 years as a breast cancer physician and investigator.

Kevin Kalinsky, MD, MS, is acting associate professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. A breast cancer physician and investigator, Dr. Kalinsky’s research focuses on developing new therapeutic approaches to patients with breast cancer.

Dr. Kalinsky started his academic career in Atlanta, earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Emory College. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and a master’s in biostatistics, patient oriented research track from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. His training included a residency and fellowships at Tufts-New England Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Kalinsky is a recipient of the Ewig Clinical Scholar Teaching Award from Columbia University, NCI Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award, Physician of Impact Award from Susan G. Komen Greater NYC and SWOG Career Engagement Award.

His research includes recent publications of studies in new drug development and therapies for metastatic breast cancer. Kalinsky was lead author on a study now online in Annals of Oncology on "Sacituzumab Govitecan in Previously Treated Hormone Receptor-Positive/HER2-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer: Final Results from a Phase 1/2, Single-Arm, Basket Trial."
