Adam Lustig, M.D., Interventional Radiologist at Medical Center Radiologist, discusses his area of focus, approach to patient care, and what's new and upcoming in Interventional Radiology.
Hi, I'm Dr Adam Lustig. I'm an interventional radiologist. I worked for a medical center, radiologist or M. C. R, and primarily work at Sentara. Norfolk General and Sentara Leigh perform a variety of minimally invasive procedures on a variety of diseases. Primary clinical interests include a prostate artery embolization, minimally invasive treatment of liver tumors and kidney tumors and spinal fractures. Treatment with Kaifu Plasticky so generally minimally invasive procedures that can treat a variety of diseases. Yes, I'm from California, Born and raised in San Jose and went to undergrad at UC San Diego. I have undergraduate degree in bio engineering, and that sort of fueled my interest in medicine. And I did my medical school training in Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and my internship and residency in diagnostic radiology there as well. And my fellowship was an interventional radiology at UNC Chapel Hill. And then I've been I've been here in the Tidewater area for about three years. We see a variety of patients with various diseases and various stages of life, so summer at the end of life with terminal cancer. Some are younger and have pain and need some sort of procedure toe help their pain. My approaches, um, usually to give patients the time and space Thio to tell me about their disease and their issues. And we come up with a treatment plan mutually together that can benefit them. The most interventional radiology is, uh, forefront in expanding technologies in the field of medicine, including minimally invasive procedures. One of the forefront procedures that is a hot topic right now is prostate artery embolization, which I perform. Another one is radio mobilization to liver tumors. Um, combined with immunotherapy. There are a lot of trials going on right now for that. Other procedures, like Nikola artery embolization for osteoarthritis, are new and upcoming eso There's always always something on the forefront in our field, which is really exciting.
