TAVR: An option for inoperable aortic stenosis

Dr. Jeffrey Southard, from UC Davis Medical Center, provides an introduction to the minimally invasive surgical procedure known as TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), which is used to repair the heart valve without removing the old, damaged valve. Southard explains that the procedure is performed in high-risk and inoperable patients with aortic stenosis.

The heart care team at UC Davis Health was first in the Sacramento region to offer transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
