A unique Mount Sinai study focused on a multiethnic, underserved community in Harlem found that young non-Hispanic Black adult participants were twice as likely to have atherosclerosis as young Hispanic adults.

The research, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in July 2022, is part of the FAMILIA Project at Mount Sinai Heart, a pioneering trial created by Valentín Fuster, MD, PhD, Director of Mount Sinai Heart and Physician-in-Chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital.
