Genetic Aspects of Aortic Disease: Treating Patients and Families

Representing the Penn Translational Medicine and Human Genetics Program, Staci Kallish, DO, considers the rare congenital syndromes that predispose to aortic disease, including Marfan, Ehlers Danlos and Loeys Dietz, and discusses the genetic component of nonsyndromic thoracic aneurysm and dissection (TAAD). The latter consideration includes a review of the benefits, limitations and implications of genetic testing in TAAD patients and their family members.
