We are delighted to invite you to attend the 13th Annual Long Island Live Endoscopy Course, exploring the frontiers of Endoscopic Surgery, on Thursday August 5, 2021 at NYU-Long Island Hospital (previously Winthrop Hospital) in Mineola, NY. If at that time in-person attendance by external faculty and trainees is still restricted, we will still be able to still present a full program of lectures and live cases from Tokyo, Shanghai and New York by Haruhiro Inoue, Naohisa Yahagi, Pinghong Zhou and Stavros Stavropoulos with live moderation by Christopher Gostout.
In 2021 the main focus will gain be cutting-edge 3rd space endosurgical procedures such ESD, POEM, POEF, STER, GPOEM/ZPOEM and true NOTES procedures such as EFTR, peritoneoscopy and extraluminal surgery. For the 9th year in a row we will feature live cases by “father of POEM” Haruhiro Inoue, EFTR/STER inventor and highest volume POEM and EFTR/STER operator in the world Pinghong Zhou, , and ESD master Naohisa Yahagi. Western approaches to POEM, ESD and EFTR will be demonstrated in live cases by course director Stavros Stavropoulos including the Anti-reflux POEM pioneered by our group, new traction and scope stabilization devices (e.g. ProdiGI, Pathfinder, DiLumen), new knifes (e.g. Pro-knife) and new suturing devices (e.g. X-tack device). Christopher Gostout, master endoscopist and great NOTES visionary will be again the chief commentator providing great insights and masterful commentary and guidance to the live operators. The 7-12 live cases will be supplemented by 4-7 lectures (based on COVID contingencies) spanning the spectrum of endoscopic surgery.
The course will be held at the NYULI Research and Academic Conference Center, a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art building equipped with fiber optic cable transmission from our endoscopy unit to two ultra-high definition theater quality 4K projectors in the center’s auditorium (or virtually, in case of COVID travel restrictions-with live case transmissions from the faculty’s institutions in Tokyo and Shanghai).
For those interested in sampling past content, all the courses from 2013-2020 are archived in their entirety (lectures and live cases) at the course website, www.winthropendoscopy.org, a 2018 and 2019 E-healthcare award winner for content. This is avaluable educational resource for those embarking on endo-surgical procedures such as POEM, ESD, EFTR, STER and seeking in depth live case exposure to new technologies (e.g. MUSE, ORISE, DiLumen, Speedboat, Medrobotics etc.).
Don’t miss the course that Christopher Gostout has praised as “the most unique live case course on the globe from the perspective of demonstrating where interventional endoscopy can and should be going” and Haruhiro Inoue has described “as the course with the most challenging and advanced resection cases in the world!”
