Performing Physician:

Dr. Maher El Chaar is a fellowship trained bariatric surgeon who is currently the  Bariatric Surgery Fellowship Director and the Co-Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at St Luke’s University Hospital (SLUHN) in Pennsylvania, United States, where he also completed his general surgery training. After his general surgery training, Dr. El Chaar completed a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in North Carolina. He also completed a research fellowship at Cornell University studying surgical remodeling and tissue fibrosis. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the national Obesity Action Coalition (OAC).
