The Mount Sinai COVID Informatics Center (MSCIC) is a new data science center that brings together leaders from around Mount Sinai, including those in the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health, the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, and the BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute. The MSCIC is the recipient of an award from Microsoft AI for Health to harness the power of data science to fight COVID-19.
By integrating data throughout the Mount Sinai Health System, the MSCIC will be able to develop predictive models and tools using artificial intelligence to enhance care for COVID-19 patients. MSCIC will use Microsoft Azure cloud computing to provide researchers with access to and storage of complex patient data from multiple sources, including electronic health records and novel research studies. A cross-disciplinary team is translating data discovery and research into new clinical applications.
