As the COVID-19 crisis intensified in New York City, cerebrovascular stroke specialists at Mount Sinai noted an unusually large number of young stroke patients, who did not have traditional risk factors for stroke but tested positive for COVID-19. These findings, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, offer valuable insights for physicians and stroke specialists in the global effort against COVID-19.
