Hi, I'm Doctor Ann Mauer. I'm a chiropractor at Centa therapy center located at healthy way. I hear this question a lot. What conditions do chiropractors treat and chiropractors at Centa care for patients of all ages with a variety of health conditions. We care for patients with low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches and joint pain to the joints of the spine as well as the extremities. With our background. We can also screen for organic conditions that imitate musculoskeletal problems and refer those patients out for appropriate care. We can also care for patients with referred pain, dysfunction, distant to the region of injury. Some conditions include things like sciatica or spinal stenosis whiplash car accidents, meniscal tears, herniated discs, overuse injuries like tennis, elbow and cubital tunnel syndrome, even certain headache syndromes as well. Oftentimes, we can also see patients with things like carpal tunnel syndrome and plantar fasciitis just to name a few. When it comes to receiving chiropractic treatment. It starts with a treatment plan and that treatment plan begins with a comprehensive exam that includes things like vitals, case history, review of systems, family history, basic neurological assessment, including reflexes, muscle strength evaluation, gate and coordinations, assessment, range of motion of the spine and extremities and anything else the patient may need such as cranial nerve evaluation or imaging. If a patient isn't a good fit, we are happy to refer the patient elsewhere for care. Otherwise, if a patient is an appropriate fit for care treatment may include using highly skilled manipulations. We may use our hands or specialized instruments to do this. In addition, chiropractors can perform exercise, rehabilitation, manual therapy, offer advice to patients on exercise, incorporating healthy habits that are sustainable making ergonomic changes including occupational or lifestyle modifications and improving diet and nutrition.
